Green Economy Observatory
The Green
Economy Observatory - GEO is a dynamic platform for research and
analysis on Green and Circular Economy trends
following two main approaches – Policy and Management – to which two
different Working Tables are dedicated.
GEO was launched by Bocconi University during the Conference "Un anno dopo
Rio+20 – rilanciare la crescita con la Green Economy", held on
16 September, 2013 at the presence of the Italian Minister of Labour, the
Italian Minister of Environment and the Dean of Bocconi University. The initiative
received the patronage of the Italian Ministry for the
Environment and of the European Commission.
Green economy is
at the center of the international, European and national debate. All levels of
governments include the topic in their policy agendas to foster innovation and
environmental sustainability; at the same time, several companies are willing to
catch opportunities linked to Green Economy.
The Green
Economy Observatory aims to develop a dialogue platform analyzing
the main topics related to green economy, in collaboration with institutional
and business actors through innovative approaches:
- I&I– Inform and Innovate: in-depth and ad hoc research, which will ensure a continuous update about policies, approaches and management tools;
- B&B – Brainstorm and Benchmark: focus on specific aspects, chosen by participants to strengthen the existing know-how through the exchange of good practices;
- T&T – Test and Train: support firm "on field" in the implementation of experimental policy and management methods and tools;
- D&D– Debate and Develop: dialogue and discussion on future perspectives, upcoming sustainability policies and management approaches, to develop innovative proposals and promote the improvement of policies.
Several organizations
take part to GEO. GEO is open to firms,
category associations, consortia, consulting firms, banks and
credit/financial/insurance institutions, Regions, Provinces, Municipalities and
other administrative entities, environmental agencies, certification and
voluntary standardization entities.
It is possible to
join GEO by subscribing a biannual membership. GEO participants will be able to:
- collaborate in the definition of the research activities, proposing in-depth studies on specific topics;
- participate at the GEO meetings;
- have access to documents
and materials discussed and
presented during the meetings.
